This Barbarian is Ready

So if any bugger decides to wimp out of my inaugural ride as a Barbarian I will take it as a personal affront.

  1. Looking good! Actually you do look as though you are about to step out onto the Arms Park and have a good ruck.

This makes me think of an interesting weekend away … easter time was when I used to go and watch the Barbarians. Does anybody fancy a trip to Cardiff next April time for a bit of Dragon Riding and watching Cardiff playrugby, closely followed by some Brain’s SA beer and a nice italian restaurant I know? If you really want you could go look at Dr Who stuff …….

  2. SA? (shudder) I might be washing my hair that weekend.

On a different note How are you Adrian? Can you possibly ride on Sunday?

  3. I’m fine … if I’d had an inhaler then all would have been well and no need for the paramedic nonsense. Why would you not want Brain’s SA? OK what about Felinfoel?

Adrian….are you serious about arranging a trip to Wales the month before the Ventoux trip? Cost, family responsibilities, etc. Me thinks you are letting your enthusiasm get the better of you? Is this the result of too much ‘Brains’ in your formative years?

And what about the drugs in your inhaler? We wouldn’t want you to be gaining an unfair advantage.

We all need to be taking Sudafed as that conatins ephadrin a banned substance as it is a performance enhancing drug.

  6. I have some spare salbutomol at the ready if enyone is interested. Actually I hadn’t done my maths on the Cadrdiff/Ventoux timing. It looks as though i am going to Ventoux sans famille and with Adam (unless any of you are still interested?) so I need to earn and save points brun for that particular adventure. The more I hear how hard it is the more I want to go with the safe knowledge that I will only get up twice and will fail but can drink lovely wine and beer after it …..

Ventoux would be my first choice with the Caledonian sportive a possible substitue. I’m hoping that Fran will give me her backing to do Ventoux when she hears all about it at the Beeston club night in November. One condition for me though is that I don’t want to drive.

  8. My vote would be to drive to Ventoux. 3/4 people per car could share the driving. It will be cheaper and a lot less hassle than flying/catching the train.

  9. tonysheppard Says:

Shared driving might be an option. It’s still a long way and a lot of driving in a few days.

  10. richard41 Says:

Why not fly-drive? It maybe a bit more expensive but I think some of the cheap flights go to Grenoble airport and then it’s a short jump from there or Nice could be an option.

Just checked the flights, East Mids on BMI baby to Nice fly on Thurs 14th May return Sat 16th May £27.99 each way. I can’t remember the half term dates so may ahve to change the dates.

  12. I’d have to factor in cost of bike box and/or risk of bike getting trashed in flight. At least driving we have control. Cheap airline would also probably charge us more for taking bikes
