Marmotte/Alpine tour
I am looking into costs for an Alpine trip next July.
I think all of us are interested. If it is just us I am looking at the cost of a minibus and renting a mobile home on a campsite.
A possible itinerary:
Friday 1st July:
Depart v early in the morning
Hotel at 4pm in Grenoble
Drive to Alpes D’Huez to register for Marmotte
Saturday 2nd July:
Drive to Bourg D’Oisans with kit and park at campsite
Do Marmotte
Return to campsite for dinner
Sunday 3rd July:
R and R
Tour
Meal out
Monday 4th July:
Drive home

I would vote for going on Thursday. I wouldn’t want to risk miss registration and I think it would be good to have a tootle along the valley on Friday to get ourselves loosened up.
You also forgot the Grimpeur on Sunday.
No I didn’t forget the grimpeur. I plan to give of myself on the Saturday to such an extent that I cannot walk.
It’s a suggested itinerary so open to ideas.
A minibus for 15 would cost something like £550 to rent but £40 for each driver and you need a tachograph to drive in France.
The hotel is to offset having to hire a chalet for two weeks as they seem to run Saturday to Saturday.
It’s all research at this stage though.
Can we not get the train of fly? Those many hours in a car were fun but also enduring. I’d prefer a less involved way of getting there. Also does it have to be the Marmotte or are there others we could do instead for a change of scenery?
